Family Matters
Even though George Vanderbilt was a bachelor when he built America’s largest home, Biltmore was created with family in mind. From 250 rooms in Biltmore House to 75 acres of formal gardens and 8,000 acres of Blue Ridge backyard, your family will have plenty to see and do!
Getting Started
Make reservations now for our fantastic Family Package that includes accommodations at a convenient Asheville-area hotel.
- Arrive the night before your Biltmore visit so everyone can get a good night’s sleep.
- Awake refreshed and begin your day by touring Biltmore House.
- Tailor your Biltmore House visit to your child's attention span and energy level. Take a breather and visit the Ice Cream Parlor or Bake Shop for a quick snack or water break.
- Run wild! Burn off pent-up energy with a race to the top of the Vista in front of Biltmore House.
- Enjoy a relaxing lunch together in the Stable Café. There’s a lunch voucher included in your Family Package. Get in some shopping afterwards in the Stable Shops before touring the gardens closest to the house.
An Afternoon to Remember
- Spend the afternoon at Antler Hill Village where you’ll enjoy live music and storytellers on the Village Green.
- Be sure to wander through the Farm in Antler Hill Village where you can meet friendly farm animals, have fun with turn-of-the-century games and crafts, and watch a blacksmith woodworker, and other craft demonstrations. This is a great place for kids to run and play, and we sneak in a little “education” about where food comes from and how to care for animals.
- Stop by the Outdoor Adventure Center and check out all of the outdoor activities from biking to river float trips, horseback riding, carriage rides, and fly-fishing and more. Whatever your age or interest, you'll discover an outdoor activity just right for you. Choose one and make a reservation for the next day.
- Have an early dinner at Cedric’s Tavern. This very family friendly tavern offers a children’s menu and provides parents a relaxed setting overlooking the Village Green.
Even More Biltmore!
Next day, rise and shine to take advantage of the breakfast included in your package. Be sure to grab the camera to capture the fun of your Biltmore outdoor adventure, and head back to the estate.
- Begin your morning at the Outdoor Adventure Center in Antler Hill Village. Our team of experienced outdoor professionals will be sure you have an adventure to remember.
- Enjoy a casual lunch at the kid-friendly buffet at Deerpark Restaurant where children nine and under eat free.
- Spend time visiting the Winery and taste some of our award-winning wines (grape juice available for kids).
- Wrap-up your visit with an indoor dinner at the Bistro or the outdoor setting of Arbor Grill. Both feature family-friendly dining. Relax and reminisce and maybe even plan your next visit!
