Celebrate the Bounty of the Harvest

This season of plenty inspires us to celebrate what we have, and share good food and drink with others. George and Edith Vanderbilt also shared many holiday seasons with others, serving traditional foods such as turkey, pumpkin pie, and Virginia ham. Archival information shows that some 20–30 guests stayed at the house during these holidays, so their 33 guest rooms were quite handy!

Enliven your celebrations with our Thanksgiving menu that features George Vanderbilt's favorite turkey recipe, our winemakers' top wine picks for Turkey Day, and tips from Biltmore's decorating staff on setting a harvest table.

We're sharing some of our chefs' favorite cookie recipes with you. Just bake up a batch or two, grab a bottle of wine, and host a cookie swap. You'll finish the day with a new variety of cookies and warm memories of time spent with friends.
